28 JUN 97

Now I am in Mexico and having a great time. I drove from Los Angeles to Mexico City about three weeks ago and picked up a bunch of passengers. Then I proceeded to drive them around Mexico and get lost for the next few days. I took an ultralight flight over the ruins at Palenque, visited some other famous ruins, partied with the drunk American high school graduates in Cancun, spent five nights on the beach at Xcacel sleeping with nesting sea turtles, went snorkeling in caves, took a day trip on a catamaran, went scuba diving on a reef, visited more ruins, did more snorkeling, got seven of my passengers to skydive over the beach at Playa del Carmen, camped at some ruins far into the jungle with monkeys, parrots, and toucans, spent two nights at a great ranch in the highlands of Chiapas, went on the best horseride of my life through jungles and rivers and around some impressive ruins and did a whole bunch of other things as well. My friends from Gainesville own Skydive Cancun so I got a chance to visit with Mikey and Jerry. They will represent Mexico at the upcoming world championships in Turkey. The bums forgot to bring me a parachute to the airport, so I only got a nice airplane ride over the jungle and beaches of the Caribbean.

2 JUN 97

I guess I can start with what I have been up to this year. In February I went to New Zealand and visited Jenni and her fiance, Chris. They were extremely kind to me and my friend Sue. I spent six weeks traveling around New Zealand. Then I went to Australia. There I stayed with Murray in Traralgon and Michael and Rachael in Sydney. I also had several pleasant visits with Angela. I must say that all of my friends in both Kiwi Land and Oz were the nicest and most gracious hosts imaginable.

In May I returned to Florida and spent some time with Michele and John and my cousin Nancy. We went sea kayaking, snorkeling, canoeing and cable skiing. Then I came up to Illinois to visit my father, his wife, and my sister, Emily.
